grants totaling $3,000 were awarded in August for programs and studies which

Myers Park Country Club. The first grant of $1,000 was awarded to Arthritis Services to provide funding

5:45 p.m. – meeting The Smith Arthritis Fund was established in 1979 when Carolyn Kirkpatrick
Smith donated $41,500 for arthritis research. This fund is administered through
NEW MEMBERS the Mecklenburg County Medical Society under the guidance of Janice E. Huff,
MD, who is the 2017 Chair of the Smith Arthritis Fund Committee, along with
Michelle D. Ogunwale, PA-C H. David Homesley, MD, and Ahmad A. Kashif, MD. The fund is designed to
Gastroenterology support research projects as they relate to the needs of patients suffering from
Queen City Gastroenterology & Hepatology rheumatologic diseases. Since 1979, nearly $80,000 from this fund has been
